• Audi Hungaria extends support for Road Safety for Kids until 2016
• To date, more than 3,400 children have participated in the programme
Győr, 30 September 2014 – “Red means STOP, green means GO!” AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. will continue to support its series of events Road Safety for Kids for preschoolers over the next three years. In these interactive sessions, children can learn traffic rules playfully from the staff of the ‘Vidám Kölykök’ (Jolly Kids) Public Benefit Association. Lessons began in September in 29 of Győr’s kindergartens. Launched in 2010, the programme has helped educate more than 3,400 children in road safety.
“Children are especially vulnerable participants in traffic so it is very important for us to help them learn the basic rules already in kindergarten, so that even the youngest ones may use the road safely,” Dr. Elisabeth Knab, Managing Director for Human Resources of Audi Hungaria, said in summary of the programme’s objective.
“We want to raise children’s awareness of traffic rules and their observation. The earlier we start, the more efficiently we can teach road safety to our small ones,” said Patrícia Koczkás, President of the ‘Vidám Kölykök’ Public Benefit Association.
The next year of Road Safety for Kids will run from September 2014 to June 2015 in the region’s kindergartens. Instructors from the’Vidám Kölykök’ Public Benefit Association use aids such as pictures of traffic signs to present the children with typical traffic situations on the road and the pavement. The sessions also rely on toys like cars, traffic-themed play rugs and direction signs. The learning material has been tailored to the specific characteristics of the target group of preschoolers. Each child receives a “Pedestrian Licence” upon completion of the Road Safety for Kids programme. Between 2010 and 2013, more than 3,400 children participated in the training sessions at a total of 29 kindergartens in Győr.
In 2009 the ‘Vidám Kölykök’ Public Benefit Association developed a series of unique games and learning materials for preschool children. Both the Győr Police Department and the Local Government’s education body provided professional assistance in the detailed elaboration of the idea.
Ever since its incorporation in 1993, Audi Hungaria has been committed to supporting social affairs, sports, and culture. Corporate social responsibility occupies a central place in the company’s strategy. Only last year, the company supported several social projects, such as donating the revenues from the Győri ETO FC vs. FC Bayern München friendly match to various charity organizations and foundations, or making Christmas memorable for a large number of families in need and homeless people by giving out 500 gift parcels as a result of a fundraising campaign by the company’s employees.
