Double production jubilee for Audi Hungaria

• 25 million engines and 500 000 Audi TT have been produced in Győr
• Limited exclusive TTS competition model for the production anniversary

Audi Hungaria is celebrating a double production jubilee: Today in Győr the 25 millionth engine and the 500 thousandth Audi TT rolled off the production line. The car is an imola yellow Audi TTS Coupé competition, with the anniversary four-cylinder, 200 kW (272 LE) performance, 2.0 litre TFSI-petrol engine is destined for the German market. The car is one of the 500 exclusive TTS competition models, which have been produced for the production jubilee of the Audi compact sports car.

“The half a million Audi TT and the 25 million engines are clear proof of the commitment, competence and enthusiasm of our colleagues”, - said Thomas Faustmann, Chief Executive Officer of Audi Hungaria. “Our colleagues are doing an excellent job.“

Audi Hungaria has been successfully producing its state of the art engines for the Volkswagen- and the Audi group. Currently 235 different engine models are made on the production lines – from four-cylinder to twelve cylinder engines –, their performance ranges from 63 kW/86 LE to 419 kW/570 LE. Over 8100 engines a day are produced in the factory in Győr.

“The 25 millionth engine is proof of how successful engine manufacturing is at Audi Hungaria. In the past two decades our company has demonstrated its outstanding competence in engine production not only in the Volkswagen and Audi Group, but by now it has become the biggest engine manufacturing company in the world“, said Achim Heinfling, Managing Director for engine production.

500 000 Audi TT underline the success of the compact sports car, which is celebrated by the car manufacturer with an exclusive model, the Audi TTS competition. “The Audi TT is a design icon. We are pleased that the TTS competition model is also made in Audi Hungaria, and with our products we can win over our customers all over the world,“ – said Gerd Walker, Managing Director for vehicle production. The Audi TTS competition is produced as a Coupé and a Roadster, and will leave the production line as a 500 limited edition.

The Audi TT has long been a design icon, and Audi is setting new accents with the TTS competition. It is available exclusively in the special paint finishes Imola yellow or Nimbus gray, and its exterior calling card is a fixed rear wing with bars in a matt aluminum-look finish. The Roadster’s top is available in either Black or Gray. The 19-inch wheels feature a five-arm “Rotor” design and are shod with beefy 225/35 tires.

The Audi TT has been assembled in the Hungarian plant of Audi since 1998. The production of the TT Roadster began in 1999. In the past years also the Audi A3 Cabriolet and the RS3 Sportback have been made in the Hungarian plant. Audi Hungaria opened a few months ago its complete production vehicle plant, and started production of the Audi A3 Limousine. In the future some 125 000 cars will leave the production line annually.
