The 500 000th eight-cylinder engine rolled off the line yesterday at AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. The power plant was a V8 TFSI engine with a rated output of 382 kW (520 bhp) and 650 Nm of torque. The jubilee engine will be installed in an Audi S8 for the German market.
“This jubilee is testimony to our preparedness and the enthusiastic approach we apply in producing our state-of-the-art engines in Győr every day. It is this very performance that convinces our buyers in the premium segment of the VW and Audi brands,” said Achim Heinfling, Managing Director of Audi Hungaria in charge of engine production.
At present, more than 400 employees work in the area of eight-cylinder engine manufacturing. The mechanical processing of camshafts, cylinder heads and crankcases for engines is also performed in Győr. Approximately 200 eight-cylinder engines with rated outputs between 250 and 382 kW are produced every day. Audi Hungaria supplies the six power plants in this engine range for the Audi RS 4, RS 5, S6, S7, A8, S8, Q7 and R8, as well as for the Volkswagen Touareg, Bentley Continental GT and Porsche Cayenne models.
For the past 19 years, Audi Hungaria has been a successful manufacturer and supplier of the Volkswagen and Audi Group’s cutting-edge engines. Currently, 240 engine variants – from four-cylinder to twelve-cylinder engines – are built on the production lines in Győr, with performance ranging between 63 kW (86 bhp) and 419 kW (570 bhp). Over 8 000 engines come off the production lines every day. More than 5 000 of the company’s roughly 8 600 employees work in engine production.
