Supplier forum at Audi Hungaria

Looking into the future: AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft held a forum yesterday for potential future major component suppliers in connection with the plant expansion in Győr. Representatives of selected Hungarian and international suppliers took part in the event. In accordance with the objective of the forum, participants were informed of the logistical requirements for the new factory, and the possibilities for cooperation.

“Cooperation with our partners in the immediate proximity of the factory creates an excellent opportunity for ensuring quality processes with short turnaround time and creating the production chain in an optimal way,” said Thomas Faustmann, President of Audi Hungaria’s management.

In relation to the factory expansion, the company approaches potential suppliers so as to ensure in time the major component supply in accordance with the production rate of the new factory. The companies that were represented at the event supply main units such as ready-mounted front panel modules, fabric tops, rear bumpers, and seats.

Besides the company’s experts, representatives of the Municipality of Győr, Town of County Rank and the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce also participated in the forum and explained the benefits of Győr’s industrial sites as well as the possibilities for settlement. At the end, the guests visited the construction site.

The company has been seeking for years to increase the ratio of Hungarian suppliers, which is expected to rise steadily with the factory expansion.
Currently Audi Hungaria has 1,400 business partners in Hungary, out of which fifty supply series production parts needed for engine and vehicle production.

In the coming years, the company will invest 900 million euros into the expansion of automobile production, thus extending the current engine production and vehicle assembly site in Győr into a car factory covering the whole production process. As of 2013, an annual 125,000 vehicles can leave the production lines in Győr. With the expansion of its production, Audi Hungaria will provide a livelihood to more than 15,000 people in the region, including the company’s permanent staff, suppliers and service providers.
